Every once in a while, you come across a small business that just gets it, and is knocking it outta the park! Islands + Castles is definitely one of those special companies.
Here are just a few reasons why I love this Vancouver based business (besides that fact that they’re local!):
Islands + Castles’s original designs, which have been inspired by their love for travel, adventure and their son, are screen printed with eco-friendly water-based inks onto organic cotton tees and sweatshirts from American Apparel and H&M. If you’re unfamiliar with the sizing from these shops, I’ve found that American Apparel tends to fit fairly true to size, while H&M fits a bit big.
And while I’m a fan of all their work, I’ll play favourites for a minute cause I can’t get enough of their pug face shirt. But I should warn you, when you put it over top of a little baby belly, you run the risk of cuteness overload!
We usually only get one use (if that) out of any article of clothing before it needs a go in the wash, so our shirts have seen their fair share of the washing machine/dryer and I can tell you that they still look and feel like new (it’s also worth noting that I use an eco-friendly soap and no softener in the wash).
If you’re looking for adorable clothing for your littles that is environmentally friendly, socially responsible and not mass produced, I am convinced that you cannot beat Islands + Castles.
